YOUTH MINISTRY (For Youth 12-18 years of age)

Check it out

We look forward to developing a team composed of youth and adult members to discover how our Parish Youth would like to be more involved in parish ministries or, to develop new activities or projects that youth might be interested in promoting in the parish. To compliment this plan, we have inserted a special centre section as an easy referral for youth. Hours spent in any youth ministry can be applied to “High School Community Hours” requirement. Youth would be welcomed and properly trained in all of the following ministries:

PROCLAIMERS OF THE WORD

LectorsLectors proclaim the living Word of God and, in fact, act as “God’s microphone” at Sunday liturgies. They also offer the Intentions of the People that are read after the Apostles Creed. Service in this ministry offers a wonderful opportunity to grow in knowledge of the scriptures. Training, rehearsal and resources for preparation are provided.

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

EucharisticThe Canadian Bishops state that Eucharistic Ministers must be 16 years of age or older. This is your opportunity to “minister holy food to holy people in the holiest of all communions.” Training is provided.

MUSIC MINISTRY

MusicAny Youth wishing to share that instrumental or voice talent at Sunday liturgies need only approach any of the Music Ministers at the Mass you usually attend for further information for rehearsals, etc.

LITURGY OF THE WORD FOR CHILDREN

LiturgyAssistance with Music, Readings, set-up and help moving the children from the church to the hall and back again in an orderly and safe manner is always needed and appreciated. Training is provided.

DÉCOR AND CHURCH ENVIRONMENT

Our worship space requires preparation for each liturgical season through the use of flowers, banners, colours, etc. Most tasks are not difficult but time consuming unless there are many hands to make work!

PARISH HOSPITALITY AND COMMUNITY LIFE

Our Parish and Community Life Ministries support our community needs with opportunities to come together in fellowship, in fun, and in support of each other. The activities of these ministries provide opportunities for social gatherings, sharing in faith and giving support to members of our community in times of difficulty. Many opportunities for service exist if you help with one of the following:

  • Hospitality Sundays: First Sunday of the month – coffee and goodies after each mass.

  • Christmas Bazaar: Sign-up sheets are available to join various workgroups from making Christmas Crackers to serving at the “Café”

Cup of Coffee

SUNDAY SUPPERS

MealsThis program provides a complete dinner for those in need of a hot mean and social interaction. It operates every Sunday evening from 3 until 7 p.m., beginning the first Sunday after Thanksgiving in October and continuing until the end of April.

DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE
Development and Peace offers an entire program dedicated to youth, youth activities and projects, ‘free clean water for all’ being only one of them.
